
THE SINGING ACTOR
DIPLOMA IN PERFORMANCE - THE SINGING ACTOR - LEVEL 7
A 1-year full-time course designed for graduates from the Centre’s Diploma in Performing Arts or similar courses, the Level 7 Diploma in Performance focuses on performance research and perfecting performance technique by participating in a significant number of acting and singing presentations. The emphasis is on integrating the two disciplines.Students will form a company with which to undertake a number of productions during the course of the year. The productions will include a half-hour devised solo performance for each student that will be performed publicly and presented to the Academic Panel as part of the student’s final assessment.

ENTRY CRITERIA:
Open to all graduates of Wellington Performing Arts Centre’s Diploma in Performing Arts courses, who will be admitted by invitation. Graduates from similar level courses (NQF Level 6) at other performing arts institutions will also be eligible. Consideration will be given to appropriate prior learning.
Candidates should prepare an 8-10 minute presentation incorporating text and song to present to the audition panel. There will be a group audition to appraise the level of performance skills and movement ability as well as an interview with the audition panel. Candidates who submit a video audition only, are unlikely to be considered.
Specific attention will be given to:
- performance ability
- vocal ability
- acting ability
- singing ability
- ability to work as a part of a group
- ability to work independently
- health (current medical certificate is required)
- demonstrated commitment to study
- appreciation of course outline and aims
