TERTIARY / PROFESSIONAL COURSE
GUIDE 2008

The Wellington Performing Arts Centre
is dedicated to offering innovative tertiary
training programmes in the performing arts

Wellington Performing Arts Centre has been a leading performing arts educator since 1987 and achieved NZQA Private Training Establishment Registration in 1995. Since then the Centre has developed a unique programme of full-time and part-time courses in dance, drama and singing that has seen its graduates achieve considerable success in their fields.

Courses are kept up to date with current trends in the entertainment industry through the faculty of professional performing arts practitioners who teach specialised modules and an Advisory Board of top industry professionals who guide the Centre in its forward planning.

The Centre’s full-time Diploma and Certificate courses are approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education Act 1989, and the Wellington Performing Arts Centre is accredited to teach them. The Certificate in Screen Acting is awaiting NZQA Approval.

The Centre’s part-time Professional Training courses are not NZQA Approved. Students intending to enroll in these courses are unable to access student loans or allowances.
Wellington Performing Arts Centre has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from the Centre or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education.
