ACTOR TRAINING - Level One

Movement, Voice and Acting Skills

Level One Certificate

A 6-month course of professional training for actors in the physical, vocal and interpretive skills of performance. The course is highly practical with minimal academic content. It is designed to develop presence, vocal freedom and connection to the imagination when performing.

The course is of 20 weeks duration comprising a total of 350 contact-teaching hours and is delivered between the hours of 9.00am and 1.00pm. It is anticipated that students will be able to undertake the training in conjunction with part-time employment in the afternoon and evening.

The course will culminate in a short physically-based performance work designed to develop students’ abilities in physical characterisation and imaginative interpretation of script.

In selecting students to participate in the training, the audition panel will be looking at physical stamina and flexibility, vocal ability and the capacity to freely improvise. Consideration will be given to video auditions.
