CHILDREN'S COMMUNITY CLASS QUESTIONS
These questions apply to classes that are run by Wellington Performing Arts Centre. These classes include: Drama, Advanced Drama, Hip Hop, Boy's Street Theatre, Creative Dance, Irish Dance, Primary Tap, Musical Theatre. (Does not include Stage & Screen, Acting Academy, Young Actor's Studio).
Can my child join part way through the term?
Yes. They are welcome to join part way through the term.
Are they able to watch the class first to see if they like it?
Yes. The child is welcome to try out the class to see if they like it. The tutors prefer that the child participates in the class rather than just watches it. You will still be charged for this class.
Do I need to register for the class?
We encourage you to register your child for the class before hand. You can do this by clicking on the particular class they wish to attend and then fill out the online booking form. Alternatively, you download an enrolment form and bring it in with you when they attend the class.
When do I need to pay for the classes?
The classes need to be paid for at the beginning of the term. There are no refunds.
Can I pay by credit card over the phone?
The Centre isn't set up for credit card over the phone, however you can deposit the money into the Centre's bank account. Please contact the Centre for more details on this. You can pay for the classes between the hours of 3.30-8.30pm Monday-Friday or 10.00am-12.00pm on Saturdays. We accpet Visa, Mastercard, EFTPOS, Cash or cheque.
Do the dance classes offer exams?
Some classes offer exams. Please contact the Centre for more information about this.
Do I have to attend the classes every week?
Yes. The Centre prefers that the child makes a commitment to coming to the class every week. Please call in before hand if the child is unable to attend.
Do the classes work towards a performance?
Yes. Most of the children's and teens classes involve a performance in the middle of the year in June and at the end of the year in December.
When does the next term begin?
The terms for the rest of 2008 are:
Term 2 Monday 5 May to Friday 4 July 9 weeks
Term 3 Monday 21 July to Friday 26 Spetember 10 weeks
Term 4 Monday 13 October to Friday 12 December 9 weeks
Are there classes during the holidays?
No. There is a two week break and then the next term begins. The Centre will also be closed druing public holidays.
What should the child wear?
The child should wear comfortable clothing, that they can move freely in.
