
The Acting Academy
Directed by Sarah Rooney
A one-to-two year course designed to develop acting skills and offer theatre experience for teenages, who are 13-14 years old. The course will be offered at two levels according to the student's age.
In the course of the two years students will cover the following:
- Vocal technique including singing
- Movement and dance styles
- Devising Theatre
- Improvisation
- Script exploration
- Poetry - analysis and delivery
- Mime
- Theatre performance
- Acting for screen
Classes will be held twice a week at the Wellington Performing Arts Centre: 4:15-5:45pm
Year 1 (13 Years) - Monday & Wednesday
Year 2 (14 Years) - Tuesday & Thursday
When working on productions, students will also be required to rehearse on weekends.

Sarah Rooney
Sarah is an American singer and actress who has taught and directed Northwest Children's Theatre and School in Portland, Oregon for a number of years before coming to New Zealand.
Fees
(GST inclusive, non-refundable and payable in advance)
$260 per 10-week term
$235 per 9-week term
Auditions will be held on 3 February - 11am
Admission is by audition only. Candidates should prepare a 2-3 minute monologue to present to the panel. There will also be a short interview with the panel and a class improvisation and theatre skills.
