
Stage and Screen Training School
Directed by Mel Dodge
A one-to-two year intensive training course designed to develop acting, singing and dancing skills and offer theatre experience for children, who are 8-12 years old. The course will be offered at two levels according to the students age.
Over the course of the two years students will cover the following:
- Vocal technique and singing
- Movement and dance styles
- Stage fighting
- Mime and mask
- Characterisation
- Improvisation
- Working with script
- Theatre performance
- Acting for screen
The courses will run for four terms, with a showing of work covered, at the end of each term. Students will participate in at least one major public performance each year.
At the conclusion of the fourth term, those students who have met the requirements of the course will be eligible for the WPAC Stage and Screen Certificate - Year 1 or Year 2
Classes will be held twice a week at the Wellington Performin Arts Center
Year 1 (8-10 years) - Monday & Thursday
Year 2 (11-12 years) - Tuesday & Friday
When working on productions, students will also be required to rehearse on weekends.

Mel Dodge
Mel has an MA in Acting from Arts Ed - The Actors Company in London. She has performed in both theatre and film and in 2007 she received the Chapman Tripp award for Actress of the Year.
Fees
(GST inclusive, non-refundable and payable in advance)
$260 per 10-week term
$235 per 9-week term
Auditions will be held on Sunday 3 February 2008 at 10am
Admission is by audition only. Candidates should prepare a 2-3 minute individual item (acting, dancing or singing) to present to the panel. There will also be a short interview with the panel and a class in improvisation and theatre skills.
