Jazz

A popular and highly energetic dance form that works to develop a dancer’s individual style and unique way of moving. Most movements are performed in “parallel” position, as opposed to the “turned out” positions of the leg. Routines are strongly rhythmical and consist of variations in dynamic and direction and moves that are performed low to the ground.

Adult Beginners Level

Classes start with a series of basic dance warm-up sequences, body isolations and stretches, designed to prepare the body for the fast rhythmic moves of jazz dance. This is followed by simple progressions across the floor and a variety of jazz turns. Jazz dance technique and moves are incorporated into simple routines, in a variety of jazz styles so that students can learn performance skills.

Adult Advanced Level

Designed for dancers who have a good working knowledge of jazz dance technique. Warm-ups, isolations, stretches, turns and progressions will be faster moving to enable more emphasis on learning a variety of jazz routines in a number of different styles. Students will also work on developing performance skills.
