Ceroc classes are informal and fun. When entering the venue, you will first meet our friendly crew who will assist you with membership if required and will explain everything that is going to happen. At 7pm, the warm up will start which is just a couple of minutes of stretching but most importantly som simple exercises in finding the beat that we dance on and introducing you to some really simple footwork.
Everyone will then quickly be divided into rows and you will be standing in front of your first partner. (Some couples on their first night prefer to remain together and this is fine, however we have found that you will learn to dance faster if you rotate in the classes).
The teacher will show you the first move of the evening and within 10 minutes you would have danced with approximately 3 people and you will be able to dance that move.
The class continues with you moving around the rows, (there can be up to 120 people in the class), and learning 3 more moves. As the class progresses you will be joining the moves together and you will find that by the end of the 45 minute class you will be able to dance a basic Ceroc routine, easily good enough to impress your friends.
After the class there is a 10 minute break when you can grab a drink, practice the moves with Taxi Dancers, ask the teacher for help or just rest for a few minutes. Many dancers will suddenly break into freestyle for 10 minutes.
At 8pm people split into three groups, one will do the intermediate class, one maybe an advanced class and the rest will do a Beginners review class which is taken by the Taxi Dancers and is a relaxed and friendly repeat of the beginners class, allowing more time for one on one attention if required and certainly more time to practice.
At 8.45, the real fun begins. The lights are turned down, the music turned up and the freestyle dancing gets under way until 10.30 led by one of our DJ's.
